CELEBRATING 30 YEARS OF CANCER RESEARCH AND INNOVATION

Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine opened in 1992. It is one of only five Cancer Centers of Excellence in the state of Florida, and is the only university-based cancer facility in South Florida. Here, physicians and researchers are transforming cancer research and treatment in South Florida and beyond.

Sylvester physicians and scientists bring research breakthroughs from the laboratory to the patient’s bedside. Sylvester closely evaluates the effectiveness of new treatments, and shares clinical insights with laboratory investigators, leading to improvements that benefit patient care. Sylvester has earned the prestigious National Cancer Institute (NCI) designation, making it one of the top 4% of cancer centers in the nation and the only one in South Florida. This designation is based on Sylvester’s groundbreaking research, patient outcomes, and community health programs.

Our highly specialized teams implement the most advanced therapies provided through NCI’s Cancer Therapy Evaluation Program and National Clinical Trials Network program. They offer unique treatment plans using leading-edge technology such as: MRI-guided therapy systems, robotic high-intensity focused ultrasound devices, Gamma Knife radiosurgery, and much more. They're with you every step of the way in multiple convenient locations across South Florida.
